Our bags are made exclusively with high quality vegetable tanned cowhide leather from the few tanneries in Tuscany, in the Arno river valley members of the Vegetable Tanned Leather Consortium. They still work according to the ancient Tuscan method. The vegetable tanned cowhide comes from cattle destined to food industry, does not contain toxic substances such as azo dyes, nickel and chromium harmful to humans and the environment.

The tanning of leather takes place inside the tannery, following a slow process in wooden drums using tannin powders extracted from the bark of some trees such as chestnut, quebracho and mimosa. The tannin is a natural substance used in the processing of raw leather that guarantees warm colors, softness, strength and unmistakable scent.

We only use full-grain leather, the most natural and the most valuable among those on the market. Each bag is hand-polished with a woolen cloth and beeswax and has a numbered warranty card, issued by the Vegetable Tanned Leather Consortium, which certifies the origin and quality of the leather purchased from the associated tanneries.

Bags and other accessories in vegetable tanned cowhide leather age beautifully over time and with sunlight. Their color changes and matures, giving each object an unmistakable look.
